How Rotor works

ROTOR, Blades and the rules between them, as the contracts run them. Numbers are the launch settings; where the multisig can change one, it says so.

Overview

Rotor is two tokens on Robinhood Chain (chain id 4663): ROTOR, an ERC-20, and Blades, ERC-1155 NFTs you mint by burning ROTOR. Every Blade earns new ROTOR every second. You can claim that ROTOR, or compound it into more Blades.

  • Mint: burn 10 ROTOR per Blade, plus a creation fee in ETH that goes into the locked liquidity.
  • Earn: about 0.1 ROTOR per Blade per day at launch, halving three times as more Blades are minted.
  • Claim: pay a 20% tribute in ETH on what you claim; 15% of the Blades you claim with are burned.
  • Compound: turn pending ROTOR into new Blades, with no tribute and no decay.
02

ROTOR

ROTOR is a plain ERC-20 with 18 decimals and no tax of any kind. 1,000,000 ROTOR were minted at deploy: 500,000 seed the ROTOR/WETH pool and 500,000 go to the multisig.

  • The supply is capped at 2,000,000 ROTOR outstanding. Burned ROTOR frees room under the cap.
  • Only the Blades contract mints ROTOR at launch, so rewards are the only new supply. The multisig can change the minter or renounce that right.
  • Burned: the 10 ROTOR paid for each Blade, and the ROTOR side of the pool's trading fees.
  • Near the cap, a claim mints only the room left and the rest stays pending; with no room left a claim reverts.
03

Blades & tiers

A Blade costs 10 ROTOR, burned when you mint, plus the creation fee in ETH. You can mint up to 100 Blades at once. Both are launch settings the multisig can change. Blades bundle into tiers as they add up:

TierBladesCreation fee
Fragmentunder 110%
Curl110%
Vortex59%
Maelstrom108%
Cyclone257%
Jetstream506%
Gyre1005%
  • One Blade is 1,000 shares. Parts of a Blade are Fragments: shares, not NFTs. They earn like any share and move only with a share transfer (sendShares).
  • New Blades arrive as new tier tokens, largest tier first, without touching the ones you hold. Losses (a claim's decay, a transfer) burn your smallest tokens first. sync re-bundles your own wallet; convert swaps tiers that divide evenly (tap a tier you hold in the app).
  • At most 15,000 Blades are outstanding at once; burned Blades free room. The multisig can raise this cap, never lower it below 15,000.
  • Sending tier tokens or shares forfeits the same share of the sender's pending ROTOR: it is dropped, not passed to the recipient. Claim first if you want it.
  • The multisig can set an ERC-2981 royalty on marketplace sales of up to 10%, paid to the Treasury.
04

Creation fee

Minting and compounding pay a creation fee in ETH: a share of the ROTOR value of the Blades, by tier, from 10% for Curls down to 5% for a Gyre. A mint is split into tiers largest first and each part pays its tier's rate, so bigger mints pay a lower rate.

  • The ROTOR value uses the higher of the pool's time-weighted average price and its spot price.
  • ETH above the fee is refunded in the same transaction.
  • The fee is zapped into the locked ROTOR/WETH liquidity position. If the spot price runs more than 10% above the average, the zap waits and the ETH is added later.
  • Free Blades from an airdrop pay no fee.
05

Rewards & halving

Every Blade earns ROTOR from the block it is minted. There is no staking step: holding is enough. The rate halves as more Blades are minted, three times, then holds:

Launch0.1ROTOR / Blade / day
After 5,000 Blades0.05ROTOR / Blade / day
After 10,000 Blades0.025ROTOR / Blade / day
After 15,000 Blades0.0125ROTOR / Blade / day
  • Halvings count every Blade ever minted, so burns never undo them. There is no setting for the schedule; only an upgrade of the Blades contract could change it.
  • Airdropped Blades count toward the halvings and the Blade cap.
06

Claim

A claim mints the ROTOR your Blades earned. You can claim all of it or a part: claiming with a share of your Blades claims the same share of your pending ROTOR.

  • Tribute: 20% of the claimed ROTOR's value, paid in ETH to the Treasury, priced at the higher of the average and the spot price. The multisig can only lower it.
  • Send too little ETH and the claim shrinks to match; send too much and the rest is refunded.
  • Decay: 15% of the Blades you claim with are burned. There is no setting for it; only an upgrade of the Blades contract could change it.
07

Compound

Compound turns pending ROTOR into new Blades, for you or any address. There is no tribute and no decay: you pay only the creation fee in ETH.

  • Up to 100 Blades per transaction (the mint limit, a launch setting).
  • The Blade cap applies.
08

Liquidity

ROTOR trades in a Uniswap V3 ROTOR/WETH 1% pool, seeded with one full-range position. That position is locked on UNCX, owned by the fee collector contract, and locked forever once lockForever() is called, which cannot be undone.

  • Anyone can call collectAndBurn(): it collects the position's fees, burns the ROTOR side and sends the ETH side to the Treasury.
  • Prices come from the pool's own time-weighted average: a 60-second window at launch, which the multisig can change.
09

Admin & Treasury

After launch the contracts are run by a 3-of-5 Safe multisig. What it can and cannot do:

  • Blades: set the mint limit and the price per Blade, lower the tribute, raise the Blade cap, set the royalty and metadata, change the zap, recover tokens sent to the contract, airdrop free Blades, pause.
  • ROTOR: change the minter, or renounce ownership. Price oracle: change the averaging window. Fee collector: lock the liquidity forever, or move the lock before that.
  • A pause stops minting, compounding, airdrops, transfers, bundling and claims that burn Blades.
  • There is no setting for the halving schedule or the 15% decay; the tribute can only go down (from 20%) and the Blade cap only up (from 15,000).
  • The Blades contract is upgradeable through a proxy admin, and an upgrade could change any of its rules. The multisig can place a timelock in front of its actions.

The Treasury receives one Blade at deploy, claim tributes, the ETH side of the pool's fees and any royalties. The 500,000 ROTOR not in the pool go to the multisig.
